Privacy Policy
General
Hippopost Inc (Hippopost) is committed to protecting our users' (and subsequently, recipients) privacy. The following policy has been prepared to advise you of your choices regarding the use of your personal information online. This policy describes what types of information we collect, how we use it and under what circumstances we disclose it to third-parties.
Please review the following privacy policy to understand how any information you provide to us is maintained and used in exchange for using Hippopost. Please note: This privacy policy may change from time to time so please check back periodically.
Aggregate Web Site Data
We gather certain generic information with respect to customers' use of our web site, branded Hippopost customer sites, or community sites including Facebook. This includes the number of unique visitors, the frequency with which they visit, and the areas on the web site that they favor. This data is used aggregate (on a collective basis), in summary form, rather than on an individual basis. This data helps us determine the extent to which our customers use certain parts of our web site or application, which, in turn, enables us to make it as appealing as possible. We may also provide statistical "ratings" about how our customers collectively use our web site to advertisers, sponsors, and other companies with which we do business. We do this so they, too, can understand how often people use their areas of the site in order for them to provide you with the best possible experience. These statistical ratings do not contain any personally identifiable information about you or any of our users.
Cookies
A cookie is a small piece of information that many websites use to help make shopping or web browsing easier. This information is sent to your browser from our web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. We use cookies to make your visit to our web site easier. For example, cookies allow us to recognize you when you re-enter our web site so that you will not have to sign-in each time you visit. Cookies also allow us to count the number of unique and return visitors who use our site. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. If you prefer, you can reset your browser to notify you when you've received a cookie or, alternatively, to refuse to accept cookies. It is important to note that you may not be able to use certain features on our web site if you choose not to accept cookies. In addition, you will not be able to participate in any of our sweepstakes or contests. Cookies can also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance their experience on our site.
Personally Identifiable Information
Your information (profile)
In order to send a Hippopost postcard you are required to register within our application (web site). This process asks for your name, mailing and email address. This information is used to create your Hippopost profile, verify your identity next time you come to our site, to confirm or otherwise update you about any postcards you've sent. Additionally, your name and mailing address (where required) may be used as the 'sender' name on your printed postcard and may be used for aggregrate client reporting and analytics (i.e. geo-graphic segmentation). We also use your email address to send you a confirmation email each time to send a postcard. You will receive special offers via e-mail from Hippopost or our advertising partners only if you specifically opted-in to receive them at registration. If you choose in the future not to receive these special offers, and in accordance with CANSPAM legislation, each email message includes the ability to opt-out from future correspondence. Hippopost does not sell or rent its email lists.
Postcard Recipient Information
When sending a postcard, you are asked to provide a recipient name and mailing address. This information is necessary to create and mail a postcard. Unless otherwise specified, we will not use your recipient's mailing address for any purpose other than to send your postcard and create aggregate reporting data. In certain instances, this information is also used to determine relevant geo-targeted advertisements.
Note: If we select your postcard or it's likeness for display on our web site or our Facebook fan page (etc...) we will hide any personally identifiable mailing information.
Disclosure
Your information is not disclosed to any third parties other than vendors required for day-to-day operations, namely our print-service-provider network in order to create and mail your postcard. Each vendor is required to sign a production contract that clearly outlines the appropriate use, disclosure and deletion of data that is provided to them during the course of normal operations. Hippopost reserves the right to cooperate with local, state and federal officials in any investigation relating to any purported illegal activity(s) and, when required by law, regulation, legal process or government requests, to disclose any personal information furnished by you or collected by Hippopost to law enforcement authorities or other relevant or related third parties.
